I’d love to see European auto safety qualifications automatically accepted in Canada. Half the reason why North America doesn’t get certain niche models is due to the expense of requalifying.
And same goes for most other goods. If it’s been deemed safe enough for the EU, it’s safe enough for me.
EU CE standards are far above North America for cars, and a different world for trucks. We have to align ourselves with US “standards” because we assemble their shitty trucks here.
Unless they’re incompatible, then if you build them to the higher EU standards, you should be able to sell them in both places. Insurance companies in the US do their own crash tests, release the results to the public, and partially base their rates on them so they should be cheaper to insure and have higher sales than equivalent cars built to US standards.
