Sigh. The Irish government has an unfortunate history of doing some pretty silly bullshit to attract foreign investment, and then continuing to defend that investment and the decisions around it until well past the point they ought (e.g., Apple’s European taxation adventure).

Well also the fact that Alumina is generally fungible so using Irish Alumina for global commercial markets frees up other sources to be used for military purposes…

Supposedly you could test the aluminium that landed in Ukraine against theirs. That’ll be more interesting.
