Scrolled the whole list. Not a single one I listen to. Other than a few washed up rappers, I’ve never even heard of most of these.

Sabaton? Who was made songs of Finnish Winter War and sharpshooter Simo Häyhä? I wonder what russians like those subjects. Well, I don’t like that band anyway so it doesn’t make my playlist any shorter. I have always thought there’s something wrong with them and now I know what it is.

The basist even commented something along the lines of “here for music not politics but Crimeans have always felt Russian” bullshit. Was a big deal and I don’t think he even apologized.

Kanye West , who also tours with Ed Sheeran who performed for Ukraine. So yeah, don’t waste yoir time expecting these artists to do anything on principle. They all worship money and fame

Kanye and Ed Sheeran have never toured together, at least not that I could find, and that would be a really high-profile tour if so.

Every concert helps fund the war. Here are some who chose to go.

How? There’s no info, the press page explains nothing.

I understand that as a Ukrainian, the guy behind the website hates Russia with a passion, but if you’re claiming people are complicit with war and war crimes for playing sometimes one concert, I’d expect an argument that explains how.

By that logic. Everyone holding a concert in the US is complicit with the situations in the Middle East.

In fact, nearly every American would be complicit.

Idk about “complicit” but you could make an argument that they are indirectly funding the Iran war, yes. Something something no ethical consumption, but some things are worse than others.

Very limited in scope, as it doesn’t account for Russia now hosting gigs in the neighboring countries to make up for the sanctions. The earnings then end up supporting Russia’s economy all the same. If you include the Russian Park Live festival alone, the list would also contain the likes of Megadeth, Jack White, Gorillaz, The Offspring, Marilyn Manson, Till Lindemann, Limp Bizkit, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Robbie Williams and so on.

I’m actually surprised half of your list didn’t perform in Russia itself, especially Limp Bizkit and Till Lindemann, who are very russophilic.

Looks like it was 1 concert performed in 2015 in occupied Crimea. The site really should highlight the date and location of their last concert. I don’t agree with their decision, but I don’t have the context and that has been their only concert in areas of Russian occupation since 2015.

They crossed the Ukrainian border illegally from the russian side, performed on the festival organized by “victory cult” / red fash pro-putin biker group that fought against Ukraine. They never apologized for these, and made these really weird comments back in the day. His explanation is even more stupid then the original quote that caused the issue, like

That someone invades or occupies another country is against international law, which I think should apply instead of someone resorting to armed conflict as has now happened in Ukraine.

Ukraine made a decision to do exactly that in 2014. Guess what happened next? Right, russia wanted more and started military activity in Donetsk, Luhansk, Dripro, Kharkiv, Odesa. “Happened” in Ukraine. As if he’s talking about weather. Russia fucking did it.

Not just bands, show biz folks in general. Luc Besson and Emir Kusturica, for example, were part of Moscow forum “Culture. Media. Digital” back in 2024. Oliver Stone was there too, but he’s been a pro-Russian piece of shit for a while now, so almost not worth mentioning him.

The only listed concert was from 2015, I get that they probably shouldn’t have played in russian occupied territory then either but that’s hardly tied to the most recent war

Edit: See other comments in this thread, inclusion in this list does seem pretty justified despite how long ago it was :(

Oakenfold, Scooter and Roni Size?! It’s like a charitable interpretation of this is that their audience are not going to be pro-war and this is outreach, but a less charitable one is that they like money and thought no-one would notice.

How nice of them to include the Spotify link. We don’t want to make it difficult to give them more money and attention…
