Going by comments in the post, the required login is coming in waves, so not all people may notice immediately.
Still, as Reddit is strong-arming its way across, maybe worth signaling to people there that the fediverse may be used without an account, so long as there’s even one instance that implements logged-out view as the protocol allows it?
I don’t have access to my account any longer, possibly VPN ban, though I never tried to recover it so I can only guess why mine is lost, else I’d post myself.

Finally came over to Lemmy and found this place when the news of age vertificarion started spreading around, along with the annoying pop us of signing it to view the sight. Plus I got tired of how dead and full of bots it was, what makes Reddit think I would want to come back?? 😑
I think bots are inevitable here as well. I think the only thing that keeps them away is how small Lemmy is.
If Lemmy ever became worth anything i dont know how they could effectively counter bots in the age of AI.
the instances also makes it hard too. its not like a one account for all instances, although you can cross-post and what not.
defederating with spam instances and hand approving new accounts is how I’d do it. we have years of lessons from email spam we can apply. I suspect that we should start working on this now while there isn’t much of a problem
temp emails are usually blocked by some of the platforms too, to lower the spam.
interesting/interestingasfuck, daminstering, and any of the variations, plus AITA variations thouse are bots.
