The European Union has launched its largest Chips Act pilot line, NanoIC, at IMEC Leuven, a major milestone for European semiconductor development and manufacturing.
I was glad when Intel was rumored to open shop in Europe, but then the whole thing fell apart (don’t remember why). :( Anyways, together with the extreme ultraviolet technologies, I’d suggest them to start producing loads of memory chips, simpler to make and guaranteed to sell.
Finally - Europe gets off his ass and uses the knowhow it already has to gain independence from external influences. Now lets do the same with supporting Ukraine and busting the Russian shadow fleet to ensure territorial security in the east.
Since when chips are measured in euros and not in nanometres? Or is it just the press release that cares more about “fund utilisation” then actual achievement of the technology?
When equities & bonds?
There were some legislative changes for local financial institutions to invest more easily in such projects (which in turn would also mean less feeding monies to the USA megacorps).
