It’s hard to guess why you’re dissatisfied with blahaj.zone. Far as I know it still has a good reputation.
I’d appreciate it if everyone could just stop burning fossil fuels, please. Thank you for your cooperation.

Most of the “microblog” posts I’m seeing are pretty short. I seem to remember the images being way too big, though. I made a custom ublock rule or something to make both the lemmy ones and them equally small thumbnails just big enough to decide if I want to load a full-sized one. It’s kept working for a year or something, I had forgotten it was there, but I guess it helps even more now.
Edit: Ah, found it. It’s a firefox/librewolf userContent.css thing. Maybe something similar could be an mbin user configurable option some day.
@-moz-document domain("fedia.io") {
.figure-thumb { max-height:90px !important; max-width:160px !important; overflow: hidden; }
.view-compact .entry figure { height:90px !important; width: 160px !important}
}

I like it. Always wondered why it wasn’t like that from the start.

Interesting news, but I’ll just stick with F-Droid.

Automatic removal for repeat URL posting
That seems like the best of these ideas. But it would be better for the originating instance to warn the poster that their url has already been seen and stop them posting it unless they really really want to.

I remember when I wanted Mozilla to do that, since they had the organizational might, the money, and it fit perfectly with their mission when they created mozilla.social. On the one hand, it seems slightly less ideal to have the same organization that develops mastodon also providing hosting for it. On the other hand, they probably have a better chance of doing it well.

Moved to shitposter.world according to their site with the expired cert, but I haven’t seen as much on fedi from the new domain as I used to from the old one.

I see that shitposter.club is on the list. Good to know they’re using only the highest-quality training material.
Never mind China and India — there’s much more cultural diversity in the world than you’d have us imagine even within any one “western” country.
It’s not much different from western cultures
Dude, maybe take a few steps away from the computer for a little while.
Further Left than even Obama himself!? Is that even possible?
Imagine watching actual TV. Millions of people do it.
Mastodon is very bad at fetching replies, if you have a small instance I think you need to add some other software to do that: https://blog.thms.uk/fedifetcher

Well that’s an interesting development, which people seem to have begun experimenting with in the past few weeks. Of course for the time being I suppose it’s made somewhat easier for the relays by 99% of the users being hosted on the small collection of official bsky.network PDS servers.
Some more discussion of it in which there may be hints as to how atproto people might slowly progress towards reinventing some of the things we take for granted on the fediverse.

If they don’t crawl the entire network then most of the network cannot contact them at all? Which makes it … not really a network. That’s where federation would come in.

Really? I thought there were only two. How are the small ones able to afford the bandwidth to monitor everything from every PDS?

Right… it did take me a minute to remember how the relays work. Well, when there are a few hundred of them we’ll see how it goes.
