My thought is that I didn’t know he was in the movie because I’ve been avoiding trying to see stuff about it since half the fun is finding out fun easter eggs while watching.
But scrolling Lemmy spoiled that, so that’s fun.

For sure. I honestly only needed Nintendo to make it more powerful and have a better screen, and they did that PLUS make the joycons feel better along with all the little things like you said.
I mean, PCs have been EXACTLY THE SAME since PC gaming has existed. The differences are “better graphics over time.” That’s it. That’s all people care about. You still use a mouse and keyboard or controller. Nothing has changed in decades. Yet no one bitches there’s no innovation in that space. Maybe VR is a new thing, but it’s not what people care about on the whole, let’s be honest.

Yeah I agree. I never had the OLED switch so literally every facet of the Switch 2 is better.
I think this might be the first time since the transition from the NES to SNES where the difference between consoles is just “it’s more powerful.” (And more comfortable.) Though the controller got an upgrade. The same could be said maybe for the transition from N64 to GCN, though I’d argue the controller and media changed a lot - but it was still “Games are prettier now” when you boil it down.
I guess where I’m going is that it seems like everyone wants some BIG HOOK to try and understand why the Switch 2 exists when it exists because the Switch 1 is now 9 years old and runs on a processor that’s like 11 years old. People seem to expect Nintendo HAS TO do some whacky gimmick (that a lot of them will hate anyway) when they really don’t. It’s ok to just put out better hardware — that’s literally been how Sony and MS have operated for the last 25-30 years. Sony and MS have barely changed their controllers during this time (they have been refined for sure but the same layout for Sony since day 1) so the main draw has always been “it’s faster and prettier now.”

There are moments where it feels great, like what you think Metroid Prime should feel like, but largely it’s a pretty mediocre game, sadly.
It functionally feels good - the gameplay is solid. And it looks great. But it’s soulless, and the story they try to put in there is pretty weak. Really unfortunate.

It was a deal where you could spend $100 and get two vouchers for two games.
And since games often were priced at $59.99 (in the switch 1 days), you essentially saved $20 on two games.
However, the vouchers didn’t work on everything all the time. But if there were a couple of games you wanted anyway, it was a pretty good deal.
I’m trying this app out now based on your comment, and so far it seems really nice. I may replace Voyager with it as well.

Kirby Air Riders! It’s very fun.
And then also trying to finish Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Heavensward back in the day was 50 - 60 level content, and Stormblood after that was 60 - 70 level.
If anything you’ll be a bit overleveled as you go through that stuff. But that’s no biggie since the dungeons and whatnot are dialed in to your gear’s iLevel more than your base level.

Yeah, try them all (that you have access to). It’s really fun to see how they differ.
And after the base game you’ll get to play Heavensward - which is a fan favorite story. A lot of people like it the best of all of them, even. Though I’m an Endwalker kinda guy myself.

Regarding FFXIV, hopefully this is good news to you, but you still have dozens of hours of free play time.
The trial goes to level 70 and includes the first two expansions!
I’ll also be playing FFXIV because of the newest patch.
But beyond that, I have Ghost of Yotei to play. It’s been good far!

Oh no poor Amazon.*
*Would be happy to see Amazon disappear from this earth

You might try Ebay if it’s available where you are.
I just did a quick search and found some ~$30 which I think was around the MSRP.

That reminds me that I do have Shulk as well. I had just moved recently, and a lot of those things are still in a box.
Honestly, the Shulk may have better detail than the Noah and Mio. But I love Noah and Mio a little bit more anyway 🙂.

I ended up spending the $40 or whatever to get the Mio and Noah Amiibo, and they are sitting on my desk right now.
I’m so sad I didn’t get the steelbook case for the game when I had the chance. I had waffled because while I like XC2, it was just OK for me. I don’t know if I wanted to spend the extra money on the steelbook at the time. XC3 is in my top five favorite games, too, now.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3
I started a New Game + on Switch 2, and while it doesn’t have a resolution or graphical update (please, Nintendo), it now never has a frame dip so it does feel better to play.
This game is still probably my favorite of the last generation. I love these characters to death. It’s fun to see the story again from the start knowing where it’s going and to also to absolutely stomp everything because I started at level 88.
But yeah, the story is awesome, and it makes me have real feelings in a way basically no other game has done. So good.

This is going to be so good.
After basically going all of 2024 with the Switch 1 winding down its life cycle it’s fun to see new games again.

Nintendo just sold 3.5 million Switch 2s in about four days.
I think they’ll survive.

They seemed to have a lot of units available last weekend, so I’m sure that helped.
I’m really enjoying mine! It’s a good system.
I just got off a three hour Splatoon Raiders session with my brother. It’s so fun.
The game keeps throwing xp and items and upgrades at you your brain keeps getting that drip feed of dopamine.
I have always enjoyed the single player Splatoon stuff and Salmon Run more than the PvP simply because I’m not super great at the PVP so this is right up my alley.
I’m also happy to report that at least in this multiplayer season we had zero issues with lag or garbled mics over gamechat. It all just worked perfectly.
