Good question. I assume that all of current falls under historic, but that could not be the case.

Out of curiosity, I just looked up Alabama’s GDP, and it’s similar to the country of Portugal.

I assume they intentionally left out some to round out the numbers a bit and hit 50% in a more interesting way without over half of it being the US.

I can’t seem to find the original source, but based on search results, I’m seeing that this map has been circulating in similar circles to this and solar power communities since at least 2016.

Sometimes I forget how long it’s been!

I’ll defer to @meep_launcher@lemm.ee on this one, since they set this whole community up.
It’s a shame that we can’t merge all of our content here with a new community.

What a loss. =(
It’s a strange quirk of lemmy that we will continue to be able to see content from lemm.ee even after they’ve shut down. It’ll feel like seeing ghosts.

Probably just no more than 2 species in a given area, but not necessarily the same 2 in every area.
Plus sub-species, I assume.

There are a bunch of other cool maps too:

Maybe just more health awareness? I bet that’s when smoking started dropping off too.

Found a random graph that might tell part of the story. I’ve always heard that people drink more heavily in Europe than the US.

It was my first time seeing it =/

I truly think most people would be receptive to the idea if they could just hear about it. The big corporate sites have so many problems.
Our two biggest obstacles in my opinion: a) the “instances” setup is mildly confusing for new users. b) Once you get here, the predominant culture is pretty homogenous and, to put it politely, politically intense.
