The lemmy.ml admins couldn’t handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren’t facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.
An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.
Apparently they didn’t instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference
The admins feddit.uk mods also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a “reliable source” despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the “ultra radically left” /s Hasan Piker subreddit

You’re better off just blocking the lemmy triad. Your mental health will thank you.
Do you know who this OP is? They were one of the biggest names out of .ml and personified every boogeyman people have about them: constantly argumentative, never responded to what anyone else actually said, forced their ideology down everyone’s throats, constantly misrepresented situations and articles to their own ends. They will argue anything extreme just to goad people like at one point they supported rape as a viable and justified act at one point provided it’s against the right people.
They go banned from their favourite instance and are mad about it. I mean, c’mon, are we really going to gloss over where they want the Daily Mail taken as a valid and reliable source just because the article has a link to something else, as if it’s not possible to editorialize information and the Daily Mail doesn’t have a long and proven track record of doing just that?
Even below, they aren’t posting that Daily Mail article they posted and got banned over, or tried to justify in the OP. It’s another, more agreeable, article entirely.
I don’t. I recognize a few names here and there, but I really just come here to doom scroll and post the odd cat pic. I don’t get hung up on usernames, suspected alts, etc. I mostly try to stay out of drama unless I’m feeling a bit spicy that day and need an outlet.
Your entire message is adhominems and then you admit that there is nothing wrong with the daily mail article. Most of the times people complain about me it’s the .ml admins removing their comments or banning them on my communities, but anyone who did get banned by me absolutely deserved it.
Ad hominems are for counterarguments, not isolated descriptions of one’s character.
OP is very politically aligned with the “triad”. Speaking of which though i still think y’all should have called it the tankie troika, i mean its so obvious.
That is a good one.
Oh the irony. I truly believe you have them all blocked. Because this is not their main account. Their main account was @geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml . But this is a good lesson on the problems of the state. It will persecute you for random capricious and vindictive reasons whether or not you are right or wrong. Especially the more micromanaged and centralized it is run. It becomes the leadership classes personal fiefdom.
Calling a three day ban “persecution” is beyond parody (not to mention comparing an instance to a state), and it’s not for “random capricious and vindictive reasons” it’s because the user is an edgelord who edged too close to antisemitism.
I really don’t. I did at first because that was easiest, but I’ve since experienced some nuance, and instead block users themselves as needed.
Everyone does things their own way. But yeah for myself I keep my block list empty generally. Only ever used it sparingly and temporarily. Because whether you happen to find yourself in an echo chamber, or you build one around yourself. It’s still an echo chamber just the same.
i learned recently dbzero and blahaj is also super problematic too. no rhyme or reason for a ban, not even linking to original posts. for dbzero, they just CROSSBAnned people. and the startrek website instance too,.
blahaj wants a holier than thou type instance, which is sad, and not helping trans people at all.(thier instances is just memes, almost too sexual sometimes.
Which are your triad?
lemmy.ml, hexbear.net, and lemmygrad.ml I’d assume.
Not .world? That’s like all USA Feds lol
Blocked select world communities only to force me to remember that there are better alternatives. Like I try not to post to world’s cats anymore, and instead post to cats@shitjustworks. World is too big and reminds of Reddit. Also lol for not being able to talk about piracy.
.world politics is fully blocked, the others is fine though.
.world has its own issues, but people usually talk about the tankie triad, referring to the three instances I mentioned.
.world hasn’t universally blocked piracy. As with many things there are nuance. That and piefed.world is kind of neglected lol. But I can browse the piracy communities just fine generally. But compared to LW PW is a blip statistically. If someone were going to notice such comms being available on one of their services. Lemmy would be the one. As such, I understand them doing it. It sucks. But it would be a very attractive target.
I avoided PieFed as didn’t they hard code some instance blocks in their code and not even communicate it or something?
They defaulted some yes. But they can and have been disabled here.
Did you reply to the wrong comment? We weren’t discussing the piracy communities in this comment thread.
Tankies or Nazis. You can have one or both.
None for me thx
.world is fine, except for the politics, and any anti-zionist comments in thier politics communities. they dint like how i(in an older account pointed out how much boost they got from jewish actors like seinfeld, and censoring universities. for thier propaganda)
World, sjw, discuss.social are all sharing user data including emails and ip addresses. So, feel free to use them but…… I wouldn’t. I don’t know much about Lemmy.today but I assume it’s just another honeypot.
What’s the three? I’ve blocked some furry ones and .ml.
there was a weekend where db0 and anarchist nexus were part of the pentad because “tankie” doesn’t actually mean anything
Hexbear and lemmygrad are the other two, but I hardly hear about them anymore which makes me wonder if they’ve just been almost universally defederated to irrelevance.
.ml gets more of a pass being the home base of the Lemmy devs
Probably because piefed doesn’t federate with them
I don’t think hexbearer was ever widely federated. There was a time lemmygrad tried. But despite being run by many of the same people as Lemmy.ml. it wasn’t the official Flagship server. So, many people had no issue with blocking it early and often.
Hexbear is widely defederated, you’ll find it on the blocklist of many big instances. Much of it is from years ago, back when reddit made their API changes and there was a large amount of activity in the lemmy fediverse along with a bug where their emojis were being rendered HUGE for everyone else, and their culture of the time of posting scandalous pictures and emojis were basically being shouted at everyone. Since then, just a lot of bad behaviour from users that got further blocks (like from lemmy.ca).
I don’t ever remember the Emoji thing. I remember grad posting almost exclusively in oversized image macros. But yeah that’s been years ago.
you wouldn’t because .world defederated from hexbear before anything was ever federated.
they have some great ones
We might be talking about the same thing really, it was years ago, but basically the constant big pictures were very disruptive.
hexbear is mildier than the other 2, but they get annoying when you point things out to them that agrees with thier “cause”.
It’s ml, Hexbear, and… honestly I have no clue anymore. Whatever one is the enemy of the week for saying things like “it’s bad to murder children” and “maybe we shouldn’t trust the CIA.” Those are considered wildly extremist viewpoints across the rest of lemmy so folks consider us Big Evil or something. Idk I don’t really think much about it despite how much the rest of the fediverse apparently thinks about us
