Curious why all the down voting. Perhaps I’m a little out of the loop on the subject. I know he was not perfect. God forbid. But the racists focusing and picking on him specifically eventually leading to what happened is something needs to be addressed. And thankfully for the institutions involved it seems they have. But for the wider public. That I have yet to see.

Liverpool had already Looked over Arday’s PhD and found nothing to revoke it. But Confas couldn’t let that stand and Hyper fixated on it. Stirring up a ton of media attention with the help of the right wing media sphere.
Worse, plenty of academics came out in support of Confas. Which even if you think suspension for his actions was a bit harsh. (Fair enough) No one with his views should have knowingly been in the positions he’s been in the first place. His shameful racist views were no secret.
Academic freedom is important. But certified quackery and bigotry aren’t.
Yeah, I mean my usage of my phone and social media is over 80% reading. Even listening to audio books is still better than what these kids are getting. Litteraly just settling in to be spoon fed video and images by the algorithms firehose. Little to no reading, or even conscious thought. The concept terrifies me. For them its Tuesday. I even disable autoplay on YouTube because that shit pisses me off. And shorts? Fuck no.
This isn’t a social media or a phone/tablet issue realistically. Its all algorithm all the time. Without effort and intention the brain doesn’t develop. Just random stream of unremarkable content with barely more thought put into it, than those with their brains switched off watching. Worse, if there accidentally was. Well good luck finding it again. Fucking algorithmic feeds.

Yes I’m Loosely aware of the drama surrounding the reference community. I just don’t give it any mind. And use Linux or BSD on everything. If they want to be a pissy power tripping baby in their community then they can. But I don’t think they should expect too many to participate either.
Wait, is this a new community? I bet you it’s a federation issue. If this is the first time that the lemvotes server has been pointed to that community. It may not have a copy of anything on hand to actually check against. Depending on how it works. Piefed and Lemmy both can take a while to populate a new community. And won’t do so until the first person from its instance requests to view them. So you might not see much of anything at first but over the next few days especially if there are repeated attempts to access it should try to load in the backlog. But it’s not instant. So it may just be a legitimate 404.
No what I was stating is that who the parent of a comment is can impact it as much as who made the comment. Go into a thread where anyone from Lemmy.ml has posted. If you try to look at their upvotes and downvotes it will give you a 404. If you look at the posts of anyone who replies to them it will also give you a 404. However if you see someone who replied to them post in another thread. It can report without a 404 simply because the person from lemmy.ml wasn’t in the chain. If they enter anywhere into the chain you will get a 404. The same for any instance that has defederated

The common denominator is the instance the particular comment is posted from. For instance you could be viewing any thread in particular. On any instance in general. But if it’s one of the ones that’s defederated from lemvotes like lemmy.ml. That person’s comment or post and everything under it will give you a 404.
It will also cause a mismatch on vote count. You will see everyone that upvoted or downvoted the comment except for those from the defederated instances.
We’re officially on the decline. A laughing stock to our enemies and a pariah to our allies. Even if the American people pull off a miracle somehow in 2028 and elect someone like Ocasio Cortez to the presidency. No one in Europe should just forgive everything and get all buddy buddy with us again. We’ve only shown we cannot be trusted. I was going to ask for a source on this. But on checking in on a comment or two in this thread. This explains a lot of the consistently inconsistent behavior I’ve been seeing the few times I do check lemvotes. Like I was wondering who the hell was down voting Jo, as they are always pretty chill and even keeled. Look at any other comments on the thread no problem. I look up anyone from Lemmy.ml and it’s 404.
That’s certainly not the behavior of an instance with nothing to hide. Though I would still think administrators should be able to see the votes and identity brigading. But this does explain a few things I’ve noticed on isolated instances when I’ve used it.
Under normal circumstances I’d agree. Under these circumstances it was a failure still.
While I agree they aren’t far left. They are sincerely more socialist than the Nazis were. The problem is, they are often as authoritarian as and group think vulnerable as maga, nazis, etc. Economics is fine. But it should never supersede or dictate social policy.
And all these heavily centralized States weather corporate or otherwise always fall to the same flaws. Power calcifying and protecting itself. Not the people or Society.

Because for 99.99% of cases it’s what you want. Extruding while leaving a face would generally create internal, unrenderable faces on manifold meshes. That would increase file size and render times for no reason.
