It’s sad to see these final betrayals from Trump and Musk, but hardly surprising. Even now, there’s room for optimism though. These are desperate measures from Putin’s goon squad of supervillains. That isn’t even hyperbole, and it’s really shocking that we barely blink an eye that the president of the US and the richest man in the world are so obviously in cahoots with the Demon King of Moscow.
But - this is supposed to be optimistic. And here’s why: This is ALL they can do, and Ukraine still has the capability to say “Fuck Off”.
And also an upside - their masks are fully off. You can see who the teams are and what they care about.
This is not going to change the battlefield dynamics in a time frame where both Trump and Putin are alive and in power. It will force Ukraine to find some workarounds, and may reduce their capabilities, but does nothing to improve Russia’s in the near term.
There are more threats from the populists on putin’s payroll in Europe - but Ukraine doesn’t have to accept a bad peace just yet. There’s even cause for optimism that Trump and Musk have to do these things at all - it means that Russia is at a late stage of desperation and wants them to get Russia peace it doesn’t deserve on military basis.

This is something I’ve never understood from Mush’s perspective. Trump will die (likely) first, then Putin, and the friendly spaces of the world may become a very short list indeed. It really makes you wonder what was worth committing himself so fully to such a late-stage, dead end asset like Donald Trump. Trump is a dying old fool whose lifetime of idiocy propels him to try and clean up his legacy’s mess with the ‘Greatest Deal in History’, selling the world to Putin just to avoid bankruptcy and personal embarassment. His complete and total corruption project at least makes sense, because he’s not a real business man.
But Musk is a much, much younger and much, much wealthier man with REAL businesses propelling his wealth. Why exactly did he hitch his horse to an octogenarian asshole with the vitals of a diabetic house cat? Even if you said something like “he keeps him out of prison”. Yeah…okay. For now and from what crimes? Surely someone in his circle must have said that committing so completely to a morbidly obese rageaholic like Trump would in the long run just put a bigger target on your back for whatever happens after he dies. He might well have to actually flee to Mars to avoid future prosecution once his crimes are forced into the light post-Trump. Having the most money isn’t much use when you can only hide in countries without extradition treaties and can’t travel to 80% of the world. A fugitive life is no fun.
Who will protect him after his pet politicians are dead, and what does he need to be protected from? Nobody goes to prison for business crimes - has to be much more than that. This is the great question - why did the richest man in the world make himself into a prop for such late-life, low-talent populist pigs? We’ll find out sooner or later, one guesses.

Yeah, I’ve heard all the sensationalist platitudes. It’s certainly something worth fighting against. It’s also a fucking stupid plan. What if it doesn’t work? Which it probably won’t? Then he’s going to prison, eventually.
Even if he believes in this ludicrous dystopian concept…throwing in your lot with Trump on anything like, you know, your fortune or your freedom…makes you a fucking moron almost by definition.

We’ll see in a few weeks what he is able to do to interfere with or ignore a massive defeat in the primaries. Trump is rotting before our eyes and is special. It took 80 years to create a monster like this and democrats didn’t help by insisting that America must have a frumpy woman president whether it wanted one or not. Twice. Remember that the Democrats lost at least as much as Trump won. Electorally, he remains a probability outlier who was handed ideal conditiong by his moron opponents, and still barely won.
