      My headcanon is that he wants to weaken Russia to make it a de facto vassal state

        Agreed, but he’s basically already done that - they’re completely subservient to China for the next generation at least, very likely several generations.

        If the world can continue to move off of oil, gas, and (jfc) coal we’ll be in a better position any which way - which of course is how China’s eating the US’ lunch because trump’s such a frickin tool.

        I think Russia aa a vasal state is one of his aims.
        But defeating the power and will of the democratic world to stand up for human rights, and stand in the way of Chinese expansion is another.

        Chinese expansion includes taking Taiwan and ruling the South China Sea.
