Slime moulds are not in the fungi branch of life? Does that mean they’re more closely related to … um don’t know the right words … vegetables?
No they are neither fungi, plant or animal. They are single celled organisms so more closely related to amoeba or some algae.
Protists, they are protists. And algae is firmly in the plant branch.
Huh ok, fascinating. Sounds like a YouTube rabbit hole for me to get my head stuck in!
Kind of amazing that something of this size and complexity is still a single celled organism.
