New first-hand accounts collected by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) confirm that Ukrainian media professionals Yevhenii Ilchenko and Anastasia Hlukhovska are being held in Detention Centre No. 3 in Kizel, in Russia’s Ural region, providing the first proof in years that they are alive. The accounts also shed light on the inner workings of the prison, where Ukrainian detainees are subjected to a system of institutionalised violence.

When I read the headline I was really confused why the brutal Sudanese militia “Rapid Security Force” was running across Ukrainian reporters on the African continent. It took me a second to realize this RSF was Reporters Sans Frontiers or in English “Reporters Without Borders”.
I’m encouraged that these Ukrainian reporters might still be alive and hope for their quick release from their Russian captors.
