Russia continues to destroy the Black Sea ecosystem with regular leaks of oil and oil products into the water. A new accident occurred off the coast of Novorossiysk during loading operations at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s marine terminal.
According to Russian propaganda media, the area of pollution was about 1 square kilometre, Dialog.UA reports. The leak occurred due to the rupture of a cargo hose during the refuelling of the Turkish tanker T.Semahat.
>CPC, which handles more than one per cent of global oil, exports mainly from Kazakhstan via Russia and the Black Sea’s terminal.

>It normally deploys three mooring points, with one usually acting as a backup. CPC, whose shareholders include US majors Chevron and Exxon Mobil, said that one mooring point, SPM-1, is still operational.Environmental experts told the news outlet Kedr that the oil in the recent spill has been much more harmful to birds than the heavy fuel oil, or mazut, that spilled in the Black Sea in December. The Aug. 29 accident is at least the 12th reported oil spill in the region since that December spill.
