Orban, a Russian franchisee operating Hungary on Putin’s behalf and as a spoiler inside NATO & the EU, is - interestingly - talking about the war in the past tense. He follows orders and says what he is allowed to say. Interesting that they’re narrative-testing “WE WON!” under the current battlefield conditions. Of course, providing no definition for “victory” considering they’re within a modest cab ride of their original starting point, have wiped out 70 years worth of Soviet equipment stockpiles, destroyed their primary export markets, suffered a million casulaties and a million+ more who have fled to other countries, blown their war chest, lost the Black Sea fleet, lost Syria and use of it’s military bases, lost much of their irreplaceable strategic bomber fleet, assembled a coalition of mostly useless allies who only run on bribes, become junior vassal to China going forward, are under practically permanent sanctions going forward, become a global pariah with zero diplomatic credbility, lost influence in the Caucasus/Central Asia and supercharged their already terminal demographic decline. Ukraine has also suffered permanent damages, of course, but this was inevitable given the predatory instincts of their barbarian petromafia neighbors. If you’re honest - whatever terms shake out of a pending ceasefire, Ukraine will survive and is in a better state today than most serious minded people would have expected 3 years on from the invasion date. And without delusions that Russia won’t try again in a few years.
