For the commuities/topics I’m interested in Mastodon has a very weird vibe that clashes with the vibe of the communities on Lemmy and sometimes it feels like the Lemmy communities are getting brigaded by Mastodon users. Also Mastodon comments are very “noisy”, every comment needs an @someone to work and every second word is a hashtag. If I check out Mastodon on its own it just seems like a lot of people screaming into the void, but I never understood the appeal of Twitter either.

That’s kind of the reason those are used, don’t need to invest much for streets that aren’t used that much.

I disagree. It’s easy if you want to use a community as your personal blog without any interaction from others. It’s hard to get an actual community running.

I think the most insane combination of units can be found in aviation. They use feet for altitude but nautical miles for distance, then they use knots (nautical miles per hour) for horizontal velocity, but for vertical velocity they use feet per minute.
