Russia has the capacity to take control of the situation, but I think it completely unlikely that they would take the steps necessary. They can have Crimea or the territories, but not both at this point.
Frankly Ukraine is too big for an army the size of Russia to take. They simply don’t have enough troops or equipment for the size of the territory they are defending and attacking.
It’s going to become a stalemate soon. Neither side has the manpower to change the situation.
If Ukraine could concentrate on just Crimea they still be short handed to take over such a large piece of territory.

Come along to profit from and rebuild the resources.
