One time in ASL class, the teacher told a story about inviting deaf people to her wedding. One of the people was a little deaf girl. The teacher, wearing her wedding dress, asked the girl how she looked in it. The little girl said, “fat.”
I say all that so that you understand how badly i don’t want to change deaf culture away from brutal honesty. It’s priceless.

My anecdotal take has more to do with a deterioration of polite society and the proliferation of easily accessible information, which happens to paint a negative picture. Also, get off my lawn you kids!
Good question. My head is in the sand for a lot of the news cycle. I get most of it from Seth Meyers to ease the delivery with comedy. A broad swath of media consumption does distract me also. I play a lot of backgammon.
