Game Development@programming.dev•What are the most simple free engines and tools for a beginner?English
141·20 days agoIf you know a bit of Python then Godot is a good place. It’s GDScript is very similar.
Godot is an open source game engine that is rising after Unity keeps shooting themselves in the foot with price changes and pricing structure changes.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How feasible would it be to host Mastodon, Pixelfed, Lemmy, Friendica, or Matrix over Tor/I2P?English
16·25 days agoFrom a technical pov nothing is stopping it. Tor addresses are valid domains names and you can run your own fediverse in those networks. The problem becomes when you want clearnet instances to send you content. As they aren’t running in tor or i2p they can’t send you stuff.
The other problem is exit nodes are fairly well known for being the source of bad shit and many instances will block them as part of their anti spam/bot setup

0·1 month agoThe more artificial intelligence is used within a law firm, the more lawyers are needed to vet the technology’s outputs.
I mean, trust but verify is a thing for a reason.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Will lemmy add live stream feature so that i can stream football cup for free for everyone? And thus this platform will grow more?English
12·1 month agoNo it won’t.
Try making a feature request for peertube to add live streaming.
If it concerns you this much you can run our own private instance. That way you know you aren’t using anything you don’t like.

Game Development@programming.dev•Unity Prices IncreasingEnglish
361·2 months agoThis video could have been a text post.
Details of the price changes received via email from Unity:
Hi,We will be making adjustments to Unity pricing and packaging in line with last year’s commitment to predictable, annual price adjustments.
Unity Pro and Enterprise will see a 5% price increase, starting January 12th. Unity Pro and Enterprise plans on 6.3 LTS will no longer include Havok Physics for Unity. Later in 2026, all plans will gain expanded free access to Unity DevOps functionality.
Key facts:
Unity Pro and Enterprise: If you’re an existing subscriber, your price will update at your next renewal on or after Jan 12, 2026. Final amounts may vary by region due to local taxes, currency, and rounding, and will be shown at checkout or in your quote.Unity DevOps: We’re removing seat charges for Unity Version Control hosted in our public cloud. We’re expanding the free tier of cloud pay-as-you-go features to 25 GB of storage (up from 5 GB), adding 100 Mac build minutes for Unity Build Automation, and 100 GB of free egress. See more information here.
Havok Physics for Unity: Starting with Unity 6.3, Havok Physics will no longer be included with Pro or Enterprise. Havok Physics for Unity remains supported for the remainder of Unity 2022 LTS and Unity 6.0 LTS. See more information here.

Game Development@programming.dev•[Question] What was your first created video game, and long ago did you create it?English
5·3 months agoI made a terrible idle clicker game when unity screwed it’s users and Godot got a massive rise in popularity. Did it just to see how Godot works.
The game has no art and no saving system. Still had fun poking around with Godot.
I agree he isn’t in the wrong. The way he is doing it is absolutely wrong and a tool bag for doing it.
While the software is, the name is corporate owned and man is that guy a megacunt.
Saved you a click.
