I lived there way back in the mid 80s to mid 90s, and even then WWII was 40-50 years in the past, ancient history. To me, at least. I’m thinking Neuschwanstein Castle might be the most recognizable German location to Americans, even if they don’t know where it’s actually located.

That makes sense. My perspective is skewed as an American who lived in Germany for 10 years (and I was fortunate enough to visit these 3 countries among others as well). It’s true that you don’t hear many Americans mention, say, Germany as a place they want to visit as much as the places in the meme.
If you go to more than one country there, it’s traveling Europe. But why these countries specifically? Do Americans go to them way more than others?

Movie" sequel is "Super Mario World"English3·2 months agoAll that matters is when the game was first released anywhere. SMW - 11/21/90 in Japan, Sonic - 6/21/91 in Europe (and boy, is it weird that Europe got it first!)

The Switch 2 will do fine, but not nearly as well as the Switch 1 due to prices being less accessible. I wonder just how many actual new exclusive games Nintendo is going to be releasing for it - their new releases were pretty sparse on the Switch due to so many ports, and they’re already pumping out Switch 1 game upgrades for Switch 2 and marketing them like they’re new releases, not to mention it’s going to be PS4/PS5 dual releases all over again for a while.

If multiple users want to play the same game at the same time:
The user that purchased the game should play on a system that is not the shared console (a non-primary console). This console will need to have an active internet connection. The user that did not purchase the game should play on the shared console (the primary console for the user that purchased the game).
samus12345@lemm.eeto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Nintendo makes physical games more expensive than digital gamesEnglish1·3 months agoIt has gone up because people will pay the price. The games industry makes money hand over fist and could charge far less and still make a good profit. It’s pure greed, but the consumer is ultimately to blame.

Most likely they will be. They stopped pre-orders in the US because they have to figure out the tariff situation. $450 is the pre-tariff price.
samus12345@lemm.eeto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Nintendo makes physical games more expensive than digital gamesEnglish1·3 months agoIt would make sense if they lowered the digital price rather than raised the physical one.

Eligible Nintendo Account holders will receive an email when it's time to purchase.English2·3 months agoYeah, I could stomach a big upfront cost for the console (a year or so after launch, when you can just walk into a store and get one), but the $80 and $70 price points combined with Nintendo never putting their games on sale makes it so, so not worth it. Third party games you can play elsewhere, even portably, so that’s not nearly as much of a selling point as it was in 2017.
samus12345@lemm.eeto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Trump’s Tariffs Are Here to Jack Up the Price of Your Switch 2 (and Everything Else)English1·3 months agoLooks like the US price for the Switch 2 will be raised due to the tariffs, so the “more expensive for everyone but Japan” thing has nothing to do with the tariffs. It does make me wonder, though, what happens if a friend buys a Switch 2 at a cheaper price in Europe, then mails it to someone in the US? Are tariffs also paid for all person to person packages?
samus12345@lemm.eeto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Trump’s Tariffs Are Here to Jack Up the Price of Your Switch 2 (and Everything Else)English2·3 months agoThey very well might!
samus12345@lemm.eeto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Trump’s Tariffs Are Here to Jack Up the Price of Your Switch 2 (and Everything Else)English8·3 months agoYeah, that’s what makes this whole “Don’t blame Nintendo, it’s tariffs!” idea BS. If that were the case, it would only be this expensive in the US. Considering there’s a Japan-only Switch 2 that’s less than $350, it’s pure greed.
