Plus almost everyone developing the platforms we are using is doing it for negative money. Like a LOT of negative money. And its not really all that many people. We think they are huge teams but a literal handful are keeping a lot of the fedi up and running.

They are doing it out of a passion.

You can get some of those interop in Mbin and piefed. Lemmy just takes a while to develop. You can already see Mastodon threads in Mbin. But I see your point, the overall protocol implementation is ALL over the place. Its very hard to keep up with what supports what.

It is evolving when you get on the beading edge. Its usually the even smaller stuff like snac2/piefed/mbin/gotosocial etc… its all over the place.

Honestly what I want is the ability for mastodon to act like an RSS feed instead of one big wall. Have each individual as a separate feed. Because my current gotosocial/mastodon is flooded with people that post 30+ times a day somehow drowning out people that post 1/2 times a blue moon. Im working on something that may do the job in the future, but the code is VERY raw so it may never see release.

They do! Its kinda amazing. I have a couple subscribed on mastodon. Its nice to just see media without the massive amount of hottakes from mastodon users treating mastodon like its old twitter.

Honestly it just looks a bit different. Same community and people (one of the benefits of the fediverse). I remember it was a fork of another project (I want to say Kbin but im not sure).

If you get rid downvoting you get rid of the vehicle for removing things your communities dont want to see.

If you dont want to see what a bunch of randos are agreeing/disagreeing on, maybe try to find a site that does? Because this is the internet in a nutshell. I dont hate you by downvoting you, im saying to others, hey this person has nothing to say that is important here. And the website pushes that content away from that community via the score. I think lemmy still lets you see the downvoted comments but other fedi services just remove the comments/posts OR hide them automatically. I know some software even removes the post/comment before it even hits the servers. Fedi is powerful in that we can do what we want with the data we get.

I made mastodon clone where the hashtags are organized like they were lemmy/piefed/threadiverse communities. It worked really well! GL!

You know, I could see a feature where if someone mass downvotes a certain percentage of your posts, then block them in some manner.

Like if someone made a script to downvote ALL your posts or something of that nature. But I personally havent seen something like that in the fedi before. But it was something reddit had a problem with. Bots downvoting so their own posts got to the top before anyone else.

I dont think blanket blocking downvoting people is a good thing though. As others have said,it will undermine the purpose of the voting, for visibility.

!peertube@lemmy.world reached 2k subs!! Its exciting. I try to schedule a post a day-ish. Even if they bomb, people are still interacting, which means they care about the videos.

Im still keeping up https://piefed.social/f/fediversevideos as well. Im seeing creators do more videos as time goes on and sub numbers go up. People are commenting on videos in the peertube space and then going to piefed to comment more :)
