Fediverse@lemmy.world•What's the etiquette for posting #mastodon or other federated posts on some of the other reddit-analogues? From what I see you can just mention a #piefed or #lemmy group in a post and it will create aEnglish

I usually @ the original poster as well to let them know the conversation is over here, but its not completely nessessary.

1·9 days agoA bit of the same. I go and schedule at least one post/video each day. It gets tiresome…but seeing the number of subscribers go slowly up and a tint but more engagement makes it worth it for me.
But it certainly feels like rolling a boulder up a hill forever!

2·2 months agoMost of the fediverse is supported via yunohost so in theory you can just give out: https://doc.yunohost.org/en/admin/get_started/install_on/
Any of these at all. I have a couple of services on it and its as easy as click install.
I think the easiest way to get people on the platform is to just have them sign up on a server (like lemmy/piefed/kbin/etc…etc…) and just let them have at it.

3·2 months ago!coolwebsites@lemmy.ca That is fairly unique to the fediverse.
If you would like to watch something we have https://piefed.social/f/fediversevideos which is connected to a huge collection of peertube videos.
And !wholesome@reddthat.com has some great content.
Each one of these communities have some great moderators, an awesome community, and fairly unique to the fediverse. Each one comes from 3 separate instances that have done a fantastic job keeping everything running.
Theres good in the fedi. Im having a great time. Go out there and explore. Lots of great communities and people!

6·2 months ago“installing” mods? What do you mean?
You can start your own instance right now, throw a community together, invite people over and have a grand old time. In fact, thats how it all works.
Lemmy.world is an awesome instance, but maybe try a couple of instances and see what you like. Its ok to “shop” around per-say. Have fun and enjoy the fedi!

I believe both systems already support this yes?
And on piefed, tags work like mastodon, so you get thebest of both worlds. We one big family (of protocols). We are not sticklers for rules as long as its in best faith.
