It sounds like the fediverse may not be where you want to be.
I hope you have a great time on another platform. Good bye.

!coolwebsites@lemmy.ca That is fairly unique to the fediverse.
If you would like to watch something we have https://piefed.social/f/fediversevideos which is connected to a huge collection of peertube videos.
And !wholesome@reddthat.com has some great content.
Each one of these communities have some great moderators, an awesome community, and fairly unique to the fediverse. Each one comes from 3 separate instances that have done a fantastic job keeping everything running.
Theres good in the fedi. Im having a great time. Go out there and explore. Lots of great communities and people!

“installing” mods? What do you mean?
You can start your own instance right now, throw a community together, invite people over and have a grand old time. In fact, thats how it all works.
Lemmy.world is an awesome instance, but maybe try a couple of instances and see what you like. Its ok to “shop” around per-say. Have fun and enjoy the fedi!

I don’t want it to be combined. Different communities have VERY different conversations on the same content.
Its very nice and allows you to post on the original post, the cross posted post, and all other places. Its truely federated.

This is fantastic.

A lot of smaller instances is actually better (in my opinion). Means that the cost of keeping them up will be consistent. And we dont actually need to be as popular as corp stuff. I like the small town vibes this whole scene fedi gives off. Theres probably a LOT of smaller < 10 user instances out there of people just wanting to do their thing.

That’s awesome. I was hoping both would be supported at some point.

I was wondering, cause it mentioned bluesky. I was wondering if it worked on ap or at.
Mastodon, Friendica, Misskey, Bluesky, PeerTube, and even WordPress all managed to show up!
First time I may be seeing both in one stack.

Are we able to subscribe using Lemmy/piefed/ect to creators?

I like it /c/slopornot or /c/isthisAI or something of that nature.

Keyword blocking works on piefed. As long as people add image descriptions, it works well even on the meme communities.
A quick js + db change boom done.
But it may confuse users depending on the implementation. And federation would not be fun…
I feel like this would over complicate things. We are pretty small as is.
Nice! Yeah the S3 is a good way to work with it. They are dirt cheap at least.
…I should probably upgrade my setup at some point haha.
Its basically i2p but older(?) and harder(?) to use. Its more like tor from what I understand.
https://docs.gnunet.org/latest/guis/gtk.html is a good place to start after the installation from what im seeing.
Ill treasure it forever!
Interesting, never knew!
I recall https://www.gnunet.org/ but its been a LONG time since ive played around with it.
Very interesting idea. Peertube already does this sorta. The p2p nature means the more traffic/servers, the less load the original instance has to push.
Most of the fediverse is supported via yunohost so in theory you can just give out: https://doc.yunohost.org/en/admin/get_started/install_on/
Any of these at all. I have a couple of services on it and its as easy as click install.
I think the easiest way to get people on the platform is to just have them sign up on a server (like lemmy/piefed/kbin/etc…etc…) and just let them have at it.
