They’re trying to evoke the Game Boy Color specifically, hence the smaller sprites and denser screens. I can see why some may not like it but I find it nostalgic

I think it’s his white eyebrows and “crest” on his head.

Mrs. Castellano’s dog

It definitely does. have way more references.

Not sure. I’ll probably wait for a review. The character models are really off-putting. They remind me of the book The Island of Doctor Moreau. It may be one of the first works to feature physically anthropomorphic animals, as opposed to regular animals with human behavior, and they’re written to be somewhere between terrifying and uncanny.

Went back and played a bit of Star Fox 64 after seeing the announcement of the re-re-remake. It’s fun, but I think only if I play it like I did when I was a kid, by completely blowing off my allies and doing my own thing. Having to babysit my teammates while dealing with my own problems, as I think is intended, is significantly less fun.

I bounced hard off the game when it came out. Was like “This is a Zelda clone. Nintendo already owns Zelda. If they wanted to make a Zelda game they can just make a Zelda game.” I kinda want to replay it now that I’ve spent some time with Rare’s other games. It did spawn an inside joke in my friend group around the dorky way Fox holds up a newly acquired item.
Maybe it’ll show up on NSO. Assault was great though.
I bought the game yesterday on the switch 2 having never heard of it. Jury’s out if I like it or not, but the music is great.
