I’m in the process of preparing for a move to San Antonio, and the thing I’m genuinely scared about is the politics. This admin, the governor, being gay, on the left… The whole idea is very frightening, to be honest. I’m hearing good things about San Antonio, though, and I’m hoping being in a city will insulate me from the other stuff a bit

Recently returned to my ancestral homeland of SC, and cheer wine (and actually decent barbecue) have been the local highlights.

As a lifelong southerner, NC is my favorite southern state. I’ve lived in SC, FL, NC, VA, TN. I absolutely love Asheville. Granted, I lived there as a youngin, and have only visited Asheville and a few other places as an adult. But my God don’t I love Asheville.

I am in no way techy, but from what I gather because the posts are federated they are also stored on the other instances as well, so posts are still visible. In the post announcing the shuttering of .ee they specifically mentioned adding a note on your profile to link to your new profile, so people can find your new profile after that shut down. That implies to me that everything not intentionally scrubbed remains open/visible long after the shut down of the original source.

Again, though, not techy, so I may be vocalizing from my posterior

It was hard for me, so I vote everyone must manually do it, for character building or some such bullshit.

If they’re not willing to move back, I’m willing to move there in their place. I’m an American, but I promise I’m not an asshole who hates everything foreign. I’ll integrate and learn the language!

While I would honestly prefer this to our current situation, I vote we Europeanize things instead. Single continent North American Union, but instead of 3 meganations, we instead go fully independent for each state in the us and Mexico, and each province in Canada. But with free travel between the new, much smaller nations. Let’s see how fast these conservative ass states who love to boast about their fucking fiscal responsibility last before collapsing and getting a bailout that requires they start offering fucking healthcare.

I guess Memphis style barbecue, if you’re into that. I’m not. Prefer my BBQ to be SC mustard base, a la Maurices (though, I won’t spend money there anymore). TN does have some damn fine fried chicken, though.
