On mbin, it’s very easy to accidentally boost (retoot) posts, and mbin doesn’t seem to propogate undoing that. any boosts you see from this account when viewing on mastodon et cetera are finger fudges, sorry!

  • i passed over the first mario movie because the trailers made it feel to “look, thing from game!” and it seems like this one is doubling down on that just with nintendo instead of mario. it’s a shame, because mario’s wild setting is such fertile ground to tell all sorts of stories, and star fox could make for a great space opera in it’s own right. here’s hoping this upcoming zelda thing has some faith in itself instead of just trying to cruise on brand recognition

  • In celebration of 30 years of Pokémon, we thought it would be fun to return to the ultimate versions of the original Pokémon adventures in the Kanto region with these special releases.

Interesting that they consider these to be the ultimate versions and not LGPE. Not that I disagree, but considering LGPE is more expensive and more in line with the Pokémon company’s modern design philosophy, you’d think they’d be pushing a special edition of those instead

also interesting that these are completely devoid of online trading and battling. could be neat for the kids today to experience things the old way- I remember it was so much fun when a new game came out and everyone had their handheld on them down to battle or trade- but for the genwunners who would otherwise predominantly be buying this, there goes it’s main selling point

  • i think threadiverse is the move. partly because it’s already in regular use and partky because it’s very self-explanatory. forumverse could have some legs to it now that more traditional forum software like nodebb and soon flarum support federation now, maybe it could refer to the broader category containing traditional forums and the threadiverse, but i feel like leaving out the “fedi” part kinda defeats the point (threadiverse at least partially maintains it by being a pun on it). maybe fediforums is the way to go?

it’s a whole 'nother can of worms but ironically in my experience the “verse” part of threadiverse is more offputting than the “thread” part because people think “metaverse,” but that’s just anecdotal and the term fediverse itself already has too much momentum to easily fall out of fashion

  • i’m definitely gonna wait until hori releases a joycon 2 pro set or whatever before getting a switch 2. even just the regular joycons are an ergonomic nightmare, and my hands are fucked up to the point where that makes the difference between whether or not i can play for more than five minutes. and even if they release a better mouse, if it’s not a vertical mouse then it’s the same issue. you’d think with the huge role computer inout devices play in out daily lives, ergonomics would be a bigger focus by everyone across the board!

  • Air Ride’s big differentiator was it’s City Trial mode, where instead of racing you drove around a city collecting upgrades and after a certain period of time only then do you race (or fight or do a minigame). the new Mario Kart’s free roam mode has some overlap with that conceptually but maybe it was a late enough addition and Air Riders was too far along to scrap or something, or maybe City Trial isn’t the focus of the new game and they’re trading places. it’ll be interesting to see!

  • i think gunpei yokoi called it “lateral thinking with withered technology” or something like that. it’s a lesson i wish the rest of the industry would learn- even “weak” computers today are capable of incredible things and we could be passing those savings to the customer or spending the extra budget on actual innovation Wii-style but no! more triangles!

  • i honestly regret deleting my xitter account. not because i actually want to use it, no way in hell, but i got curious recently and saw that my username was retaken by someone else, so now any old links there go to them instead of me. would have been much better to delete all of my tweets and change my display name and bio to point people to mastodon. maybe even set up automated tweets telling people switch. even if i got banned for that, that at least prevents anyone else from squatting on my old id. oh well, you live and you learn!

  • i came here to say the same thing! if people actually genuinely like the new reddit ui, those people might just want and need different things out of a website than we do, and trying to onboard them might be a fool’s errand. not to be a gatekeeper, i’d love if everyone quit the corporate web, but a lot of the things people complain about here like the ui and the decentrilization are why i’m here (in my case mbin) and not there to begin with

same thing with mastodon, people still rail against it’s ui but the ui was a big reason i even made a mastodon long before twitter was bought out, back when they first tried to phase out the chronological timeline
