Hi, I’m also Terencio on mastodon.social and Sergio on slrpnk.net. I mostly use this account when there are issues on slrpnk.net.

OMG wat if a legionnary was fighting Asterix & Obelix and their sword got stuck in Obelix and the legionnary tagged along after they got beat up, and was like: “Excuse me? Can I have my sword back please? I have to pay for it otherwise.” Then he tags along on their adventure and at the end of the episode he finally gets back to base and is awarded for bravery.
Kinda neat to see where the image came from: https://www.karwansaraypublishers.com/en-us/products/ancient-warfare-xvi-5
Glad they don’t sell these in grocery store checkout lanes, I’d probably “impulse buy” more than I could afford.
Here’s an animation of how it was done (in at least one case) in medieval times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJgD6gyi0Wk
I imagine Romans coulda done something similar for permanent stone bridges. The one in the illustration looks temporary.
I think this illustration is in reference to the following:
The first target of the rebels was the former capital of the Trinovantes, Camulodunum (Colchester), which had been made into a colonia for Roman military veterans. These veterans had been accused of mistreating the locals. A huge temple to the former emperor Claudius had also been erected in the city at great expense to the local population, causing much resentment.[13] The future governor Quintus Petillius Cerialis, then commanding the Legio IX Hispana, attempted to relieve the city, but suffered an overwhelming defeat. The infantry with him were all killed and only the commander and some of his cavalry escaped.[14] The location of this battle is unknown.[15]
The Roman inhabitants sought reinforcements from Catus Decianus, but he sent only two hundred auxiliary troops. Boudica’s army attacked the poorly defended city and destroyed it, besieging the last defenders in the temple for two days before it fell. Archaeologists have shown that the city was methodically demolished.[16]
“word shitting”. Lots and lots of words that say fuck all.
This is a great way to describe LLM-based AIs. I’ma use it.

Sorry to hear that! My main account is on slrpnk.net. But don’t let it stress you out, “solarpunk” says “punk” which implies “DIY” which means this sort of thing happens. Much better to have an instance run by an admin who truly cares, rather than some soulless corporation.
Kinda interesting that the hat looks like an Andean chullo. And it looks like the front of the Thracian cape could be untied to become a poncho. I guess if you’re living in a cold region with lots of wool, there’s only so many different ways you can make a cap and cloak, huh?
