I live here so I can maybe paint a better picture. The right is mostly strong in the country-side, even in the tourism areas. The state is quite big with very few people living there and the lowest wages across Germany. Add to that the highest per capita alcohol consumption, well you get the gist.

The cities and bigger towns are political enclaves in that regard. Rostock (Linke/SPD), Wismar (not sure) and Greifswald (Grüne (mayor)/ Linke/SPD) espescially are quite different, to a large part due to the universities.

That Nazis live here is not new, in fact the NPD used to hold a few seats in parliament. But it was for the most part a kind of enduring acceptance between the far right and the the rest (including the far left). One demonstrated and fought eachother during regular events, but for the remaining year the country was big enough. That premise jas been largely erroded by the AfD. The worst part is that nowhere else have I more explicatly seen the difference in education comparing the far-right with the rest. It is literally drunks, unemployed and low-income mostly here.

Then you have this weird fascination with Russia that you find among the AfD as well as BSW.

Essentially, if you live in the bigger towns, you will be mostly fine however you dress, look or believe. In the countryside you will be fine for most of the day if you have thicker skin and are well off.

However I am crossing all my fingers that we will keep the AfD smallish in September and that the CDU doesn’t change seats.

Likewise the political views of Spotify’s CEO are not too problematic for me - those I know of. Defense spending is sadly necessary, at least the money stays in the EU.

What made me switch was that ICE was allowed to play recruitment ads. Granted as a premium user, I would never hear them, but it is the principal.

What made me stay was the quality of the streams. The difference in depth can easily heard, espescially on good stereo speakers or on headphones. The focus on albums, I’ve grown to like. I still do miss Spotify’s weekly playlist. Qobuz’ just isn’t as good, it only reflects your recent streams. However that is made up by the curated playlists. I’ve found so many artitsts I’ve never heard of. It’s like music radio shows used to be like.

This band was “Landser” a banned neo-nazi rock band that was dissolved as a criminal organization meant to incite violence. He himself served a couple of years for incitement of violence, holocaust denial and founding and being part of a criminal organisation. Landser had songs that called for the death of Turks, muslims, jews leftists, gay people - you get the gist.

During his sentence he “toned” down the aggression to comply with the law but still plays for neo-nazis mostly for the likes of formerly known neo-nazi party NPD (now Die Heimat). His Band’s albums are now at least indexed since they are barely within the scope of legality.

And my point is honestly more along the lines of quitting Spotify partly due their support of ICE and hosting far right media. If Qobuz does the same, then I will not be using their service any longer.

Has anyone seen an option or a mail adress to report music on qobuz? Just because I was interested and Spotify is notoriously bad at that, I looked up a few German far right bands up on Qobuz. Well, “Die Lunikoff-Verschwörung” is available for stream. The albums you can stream are not the banned ones, but why do they even have it in the first place? That is the most vile neo-Nazi music you could think of.

Edit.: someone reached out and the band has been delisted. I gave them a bit of feedback on how they could add an option for a report and that they should have their social medoa team reach out to feddit.

And that is always something I point at when some shithead goes: “Ukraine is as corrupt as Russia”, I don’t know if the depth is comparable, but Russia is not changing. Ukraine however is actively rooting out corruption, it will take another few years yes, but they’ll get there.
