Fascism is more complicated than that, and while China is nationalistic it’s not running on the kind of ultranationalism that, say, Nazi Germany had. Modern China doesn’t meet any credible definition of fascism.

I’m not; I was just explaining the background of the “highest mortality rate” thing because it’s not what one would expect (or at least not what I expected). I wasn’t trying to compare the two.

Not to detract from the horribleness of this, but in case anyone else is wondering how Ukraine had/has the world’s highest mortality rate with the Gaza genocide unfolding, the latter isn’t counted because America doesn’t recognize Palestine.

I don’t think it is, maybe we are due for another growth spurt but from here on out I genuinely think a critical mass has been achieved where it will simply make more and more sense for people to come here.

Maybe for English and a handful of major European languages, but there’s no way I could recommend the Fediverse (at least the Threadverse; I don’t hang out on Mastodon) to an Arabic or Japanese speaker. In that area it’s still severely lacking.
