In other news Putin announces pizza budget cuts, orders family size triple pepperoni with cheese-stuffed crust.

If somebody says it costs $5000/mo, how could they say it in a different way that you would define as “transparent” - do you want receipts?

Nowadays I tend to only donate to projects that have full transparency on what the money is being used for.
If you believe he’s spending $5k/mo to run the server, even if you send him $20 and he blows it on blackjack and hookers, it means he has to spend $20 of his bj/h money on the server. So I don’t really see an issue. Does that make sense?

The expense of running busy servers is too much to expect of anyone. I haven’t even tried to figure out how the math would work but I wonder if the ultimate solution could be more of a BitTorrent architecture where the “server” is a hive of users’ computers all sharing the load? I’m a software developer but have never worked on anything in that area, but since BitTorrent works it certainly seems feasible. Comments?

Hopefully into the actual sea itself.

According to this the damage was over $7 billion. - which makes more sense than $2 billion given the number of bombers hit.

Nice job, folks! Would suck to be whichever yes-man had to inform Pootie about the $7 billion in aircraft they lost in one night, a third of their ability to deliver cruise missiles.

Read it again slowly. I know it’s more words than a typical meme, but I have faith in you.

Arguments against misinformation aren’t arguments against the subject of the misinformation, they’re just more misinformation.

And millions of Americans think the reason we don’t have all the things we don’t have that everybody else has, is cuz we have Freedom! and everybody else is oppressed. How did so many people get so brainwashed?

The wacky Fahrenheit scale, invented by Daniel Fahrenheit 300 years ago, was based on a scale concocted by Ole Rømer, an astronomer who was the first to show that light has at a finite speed. On the Romer scale a brine solution freezes at 0 and plain water boils at 60. Why Rømer didn’t use the same substance for both measurements is a mystery. Fahrenheight divided Rømer’s degrees by 4 to make the scale finer, so in his version the brine froze at 0, normal water at 30, and human body temp was 90. These numbers had to be adjusted later as more accurate thermometers were made.

I tend not to read the details on the MAGAchanics of all this, but has anyone seen a cost/benefit analysis showing how much all these enforcements and deportations are costing the taxpayers, and what kind of dollar return is expected? Or is it all kind of lumped into a War to Save Your Freedom, where no cost is too high and questioning the cost = treason?

If average comments/post is lowest on .ml, medium on .world and highest on hexbear, it might correlate those instances with post meaningfulness, or with the innate tendency of their users to comment. Or with both, or some other thing entirely. All I can really say about it is, “Huh, interesting.” Not interesting because it leads to any particular conclusion, but interesting that there’s a pattern.

My sidebar correctly says I’ve joined.

Thanks, when I hit that link it shows the page and says “No posts”. Thanks for all your help though! Commenting on that post wasn’t a big deal, I just wondered how the system works. I guess sometimes sh.itdoesn’t.work lol.

Thanks, english and undetermined are both enabled.

Interesting. When I search for “white” the “People Twitter” community on sh.itjust.works does not come up. Also doesn’t if I search for “Twitter”. Note that the results include communities on other instances, but not sh.itjust.works. No idea why my search and your search would be different.

Yes I get the principle, I’m just having trouble with the mechanics, but not quite “just as easily” - posting or commenting in a community hosted on sh.itjust.works seems to require remote-subscribing to the community from lemmy.world - which I’ve done and it’s now pending. Waiting to see if that does the trick.
Look like meat off menu again, boyz.
