I mean isn’t that basically how we do it?

Yeah I’m talking about trans women getting pregnant, which is a lot more difficult than those things. It’s not clear what the health outcomes of that would be. Likely not good until we develop the protocols and treatments to make it safe. The hormonal changes in pregnancy are fairly complex, and managing that safely for mom and baby is already difficult enough even with cis women.
It would be a wonderful thing if we can figure it out though.

It’s actually theoretically possible already. But it would be incredibly dangerous so no one has attempted it.

I recently learned that hpv also caused oral cancer. So if you haven’t got this vaccine you really should. I know I had to ask a few times because they kept telling me it wasn’t worth it due to my age and sex.

Unfortunately I think it must be assumed in this day and age that any content posted online publicly may be stored indefinitely, on any platform. Even if you delete it, there are bots scraping all your comments, and you won’t be able to delete from those databases. So I’m not sure how much utility this feature would have today.

Yeah I think it’s way beyond what I would know how to do… I’ve also got some pretty crazy things happening in my life right now so I’m not looking to take on any big projects at this time. Maybe when things are back to normal.
Or I’ll ask around and see if anyone else is interested in doing it.

Wow great comment. But I’d have to figure out who is going to host a local server first. I’m not super tech savvy personally, especially compared to Lemmings.

Oh wow this would be huge. The local sub is the main thing that keeps me coming back to Reddit.
However, it probably will take some local organizing to get it to fire in each area. Getting a critical mass for these is tough by just having randomly distributed global internet users join. Even with thousands of users, the California community on Lemmy is way less active than the sub for my city on Reddit.

Not even in the countries that created these standards?

I don’t understand why we can’t just measure the size of the garment and put that on them…
Even men’s sizes which are supposed to be that, have succumbed to vanity sizing. My actual waist measurement is usually about 4" bigger than what’s printed on a pair of pants. But since it’s no longer an actual measurement it varies quite a bit.

Should I be on Mastodon? I never used Twitter so the idea of an alternative never was appealing. But it does seem to be the biggest most active place on the fediverse.

I thought it was sort of implied but you’re right I could have been more explicit.

Sure but what are the specific policies that explain this specific pattern? That’s what I’d like to know. Just writing it off as capitalism bad doesn’t help, even if it’s true.

That doesn’t explain why some nations are functioning better under capitalism than others though.

So critical you’ll be instantly banned for saying anything critical of Russian imperialism.

Sure, if you have total power over the media ecosystem. But we don’t.
So the question has to be asked–are you banning Zionism from the public square or simply exiling anti Zionism into a small echo-chamber where no one will hear it anymore and Zionism will go unchallenged? This is my problem with this approach.

Another user mentioned that feddit.org may have been consistently censoring anti-Zionist voices. If that’s true it would make this a lot more reasonable in my view. However the post doesn’t seem to explicitly make this claim, so I am curious if it’s true. It left me with the impression that they were defederating mainly due to the presence of some Zionist users on the instance, which seems a very excessive response when the ability to ban individual users exists.

Maybe… this is where I guess the instance rules get in the way because I’d like to know what exactly that looks like. Because it’s well known that communists and others tried to violently resist the Nazis in the lead up to the third reich. So you’d have to articulate how your strategy was different from what was tried and failed.
My reading of history is that sporadic violence is a very ineffective anti-fascist tactic.

OK, if that’s true then I what I’m saying here doesn’t apply.
-10% in one month? Is that real? Seems hard to believe.
