What absolutely blows my mind about videos like these are the virtually non-existent firefighting resources. Aside from that one water dropping helo there’s nothing visible in terms of a firefighting response. The size of these fires just confirms that they have no real way of combating these fires other than to let them just eventually die out on their own.

I grew up outside NYC in the 80’s and every summer my parents took me & my brother upstate to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome where they still fly vintage aircraft from the WWI era. Looking at that website it looks like they still put on their “WWI Dog Fight Spectacular” show, which is something that still makes me smile.

“Turn every self-propelled vessel into a barge drifting at sea, blind and deaf,” Brovdi wrote.

He stressed that the objective was not to sink the ships and cause environmental damage.

“The goal is not to foul the waters with oil slicks, so there will be no hull breaches,” he added.

Love their approach to this. If it was Russia doing the attacking I’m sure they would be taking the exact opposite approach and causing as much environmental damage as possible.

Just wait until winter to see how well folks can heat their homes…

They very well could have grounded it on purpose after it was attacked. Better that, if possible, for potential salvage afterwards instead of having it under dozens of meters of water.

From what I can see that appears to be all from one ship. I want to see what happened to all of them, especially if they’re all anchored or adrift because of the damage.

I’d love to see a daytime reconnaissance flight over these fleets.

From the video it looks like most of the drones are specifically targeting the bridges of the ships. If they’re able to both eliminate qualified bridge crews (and discouraging replacements), and disabling the ships themselves without causing them to leak crude into the ocean then that’s a huge multi-pronged win in my book.

After Ukraine finishes its current round of attacks on the Russian shadow fleet they should send a strongly worded letter to Greece basically saying “You’re next if you keep transporting Russian oil”.

The pressure Ukraine is putting on Russia is insane. Between reports like this and targeting refineries east of the Urals it’s becoming quite obvious that nothing Russian is safe at this point.

Well Ukrainian drones at least.

Man Ukraines intelligence gathering related to targets is downright impressive.

#1 can be especially important in places like the northeast US where some houses still have 100 year old knob & tube wiring. When we bought our house in a Boston suburb 10 years ago it still had some live knob & tube. Our insurance company required us to remove it all & replace it.

It’s mostly a submarine fleet now.

Sounds like they didn’t help this pilot…
