The possibility to easily change the USB port definitely weight in the balance in favor of a fairphone when I picked a new phone.

I think it’s because in a three phase system is you have 220v between two phases then you’ll have 127v between one phase and the ground.

I know in France at one point before the 50s most of the country was using 110v, then some of it switched to 127v but from the 50s they decided to unify the national electrical grid to 220v. It took a while but now I don’t think there is any 110v left.

I’m not sure what would be the best metric so I decided to compare the number of passagers on the most used road in France with the most used rail line, that are both in Paris.

The most used road is the Autoroute urbaine Nord with 200 000 vehicles per day.

The most used rail line is the RER A with 1 400 000 daily passengers, 7 times more.

Looking at Alibaba, the “bare fiber for FPV drone” cost around $600 for a 50km spool.

I was using mainly the emails from proton, I moved to mailbox.

At one point I was planning on moving my drive and VPN with them but their Linux support was really lacking, especially the CLI support so I’ve never done it and I’m glad I didn’t.

For the VPN I’m using Mullvad integrated with tailscale, for the drive in using my own synology NAS and tailscale to connect to it.

Ouch! They really are working hard on getting any privacy oriented person to leave them.

I’m glad I have moved away from them.

I received a fax at work once, 10 years ago. The subcontractor has issues with their email so they call me to warn me they were faxing me the document I needed.

It took me a good 2 hours to finally locate the fax machine in the factory, no one had any idea that we still had a fax machine running.
