Hi
It seems that free speech is only an illusion on Lemmy servers.
Where can I post any comment on any post (even blocked Reddit posts) without being blocked?
Even hatred needs to be analyzed to get to the root cause.
Thanks in advance for pointing me to open minded and constructive discussions servers.

Nobody said Lemmy has frozen peaches.

You can always spin up your own free speech absolutist instance, but it would inevitably become a Nazi bar, and other instances would defederate from it.
Thanks for your input.
Aaah no, I just want to post, I’m not interested in technical stuff.
And absolutism is just one topic among many others. My goal is to question, to switch perspectives, to look into the eyes of reality, to challenge, to exchange opinions and so on and so forth without having the very irritating surprise to be blocked or banned.
But hey, maybe this is one of the flaws of the Fediverse concept: any instance admin can arbitrarily block any post of any user.
I guess I’m gonna roam around some more to find a true decentralized system with a good balance between censorship and uncontrolled illegal stuff.
Ah yet another person who thinks they’re owed free services to post whatever the hell they want whenever they want.
Us instance admins are people, average joes, hosting small servers for fun. Most of us have no interest in hosting whatever hate speech you want to spew under the guise of “free speech”. As someone else already called out, you’re more than welcome to start your own server. You just have to register it under your name, but hey you believe in free speech, so that’s not a problem I assume. You mentioned that you’re not interested in being technical, well have no fear! There are providers that do it in just a couple clicks! Super easy!
Just register your name to your instance, and say whatever the hell you like. Of course I will then probably exercise my own rights to defederate from your server.
You have the right to say whatever you like. You are not owed free server space or free hosting of said speech. We are not compelled to host your hate speech. Free speech is not an “illusion” on Lemmy (or the fediverse as a whole) - you just have to be willing to take on the risk and drawbacks yourself, there’s no big safe company who’s just going to quietly block you. Your words, Your server, Your responsibility.
Thank you for your answer.
I’m confused, where is your evidence of me having a hate speech?
And why this aggressive and condescending tone?
Doesn’t your answer prove my point? Did you read what I want to talk about?
The only community I’ve been blocked from was an instance level block from a 30rock gif community (baffling) and from a community that was made by someone to post their pedophile fantasies (that one I understand as I voiced that they were a problem).
What kind of comments are you making that are resulting in you getting blocked and from where?
I found this Reddit post and I wanted to comment on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/usa/comments/1jrx01z/as_a_nonamerican_watching_america_implode_i_cant/
My comment: Wherever country one is from, one can partly or mostly agree with the observations made. However, it needs extended perspective and accountability.
People are responsible for actions of their country only to a certain extend, after that, the accountability goes to the country government. I sympathize with all the people ashamed of and angry at their government, whichever it is.
Back to the US.
We are all responsible of what is happening, and we all empower the US government.
By “we” I mean everybody on this planet who:
- eats and drinks at Mc Donald’s, Subway, KFC, Starbucks etc.
- works on a computer and smartphone (Microsoft, Apple, Google, Intel, NVidia, etc.)
- consumes centralized numeric media (Netflix, Reddit, Youtube, Facebook, Spotify, etc.)
- orders products online (Amazon, Uber, etc.)
- has a pension fund invested in treasury bills
- invests in global ETFs (Vanguard, Blackrock, Bank specific ETFs, etc.), treasury bills, crypto (USDT, USDC, USDe, FDUSD, etc.) or simply in US stocks
- has a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, etc.)
- buys and spends dollars
- uses GPS
- uses centralized Internet platforms (Google search, ChatGPT, etc.)
- buys US army weapons
- goes on vacation (Boeing, etc.)
- and the list is not exhaustive
QED: we are all accountable.
If one wants to change the world, one has to responsibly and consequently change one’s own habits.
The reddit thread is locked, so that’s probably why you can’t comment on it.
But I’m not sure what that has to do with lemmy
That’s the point: as Reddit blocked the post for commenting I wanted to be able to comment on it from another platform, i.e. Lemmy. So I created a post, referring to the Reddit post, including my comment and my whole post was deleted.
So, in which Lemmy community can I react constructively on any post made on any platform without being blocked?
Your !worldnews@lemmy.ml post didn’t follow the community rules, specifically, “Please only post links to actual news sources”. Each Lemmy instance has rules, and many communities have additional rules.
Yep, I figured that out afterwards.
There’s a few reddit based communities that might work for, but, honestly, I’m not sure if there’s a community specifically for posting threads from reddit and making replies to them. But maybe you could start one.
The issue is not the community, but the server on which it is hosted: if the server’s manifesto states “no hatred, …” then anything related to hatred, even guided constructively, may potentially be blocked.
Don’t waste your time with reddit. Search around and you will find servers with smarter mods than .world or .lm
