The lemmy.ml admins couldn’t handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren’t facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.
An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.
Apparently they didn’t instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.
This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference
The admins feddit.uk mods also removed a post from my own community because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a “reliable source” despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

It looks like everyone blew it. “Zionism is not Judaism” is a valid point because they are completely separate things. “Zionism is racism” is also true and valid. If everyone is in agreement that zionism can get fucked, then disparaging one true thing to focus solely on another is damaging instead of constructive.

Just because it’s AI, it doesn’t follow that it’s slop. It’s a good sign and I expect to see it at future protests.
It definitely is a good sign - I’m not gonna argue with that. However, I’m very anti generative AI regardless of which context it’s used for. Might just as well have been a job for a Photoshop-equivalent, and it would have had the same effect without supporting an AI company.

Zionism and Judaism are not the same thing but it’s not relevant for Palestinians and the conversation shouldn’t be focused around it. The reason the Zionism is Racism motion was so impactful is because it shifted the debate of what Zionism isn’t into the debate of what Zionism is.
Saying “Zionism is not Judaism” is important is because so much of the Zionist rhetoric is about anti-Zionism being antisemitism, which it blatantly is not. It’s denying the primary arguing point of Zionists trying to shut down criticism.
Absolutely false. Zionists couldn’t care less about the distinction. They will abuse the antisemitism card no matter how well you distinguish. Research in the UK showed Jew hatred was DOWN but they added anti Israel sentiment and then said it was up.
That’s why the myth of rising antisemitism needs to be addressed. But then the Zionists come out and concern troll the movement and say anyone who denies there is extreme antisemitism is a secret nazi. Thus empowering the Zionists to keep going.
The argument isn’t for the Zionists, it’s for the people the Zionists might influence.
They don’t care how well you make the distinction. They will give the money to Zionist organisations anyway by abusing conflating Zionism and Judaism to pump up antisemitism numbers and then turn it into a weapon to support Israel.
In case of the OOP it doesn’t refer to individual Jews but to Judaism as a religion where Zionism has become core doctrine over the last century. Governments such as in the UK and Zohran Mamdani in the US can then give millions of dollars to “combat antisemitism” to Zionist organisations which will then use this funding to fight anyone opposing Israel. Zohran just came out and said he basically wasn’t able to find any non-Zionist Jewish organisations to give the money to and therefore gave it to Zionists. But apparently he’s not “antisemitic” for this because he’s the favourite DSA poster boy.
And the reason why is because people are refusing to address the crux of the issue that there is “rising anitsemitism” when in reality there just isn’t. Jews aren’t facing any type of systemic discrimination and are just very privileged white people. There’s no reason to do massive PR campaigns for Judaism all the time. Focus on Palestinians instead which are literally getting genocided.
Zionism is a Jewish supremacy ideology, isn’t it? They want a Jewish ethnostate, which definitionally is bigotry.
