I actually haven’t experienced that “pine straw cushion” myself yet, but now I’m very curious to try it. It sounds much more comfortable than sleeping on a regular mat! -5°C is still quite a challenge, so I think you’re braver than you realize! Hope your next autumn trip is amazing.
