Fediverse@lemmy.world•It's been a while, which Lemmy instances should I be on?English
21·6 days agoPeople probably don’t want to defederate the flagship instance owned by the devs of the software they’re using.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•It's been a while, which Lemmy instances should I be on?English
107·6 days agoThat’s partially true, but not all true at all. Piefed development is way faster currently than Lemmy.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What is the point of posting on the fediverse if it is going to be moderated similarly to Reddit?English
21·19 days agoI don’t think a single Reddit ‘power user’ moved to the Fediverse.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What is the point of posting on the fediverse if it is going to be moderated similarly to Reddit?English
51·19 days agoThat’s why a swath of us left Reddit in the first place, isn’t it?
No. I don’t think many people left Reddit for a desire to post in a ‘free speech absolutist’ instance.
I can think of many other reasons why many people left Reddit. One of which is that it isn’t moderated efficiently enough.
I think the Fediverse has largely lost the script and the plot entirely. If you want a more better experience on the Fediverse, stop installing crybaby over-sensitive mods.
You know the Fediverse is comprised of different instances that exercise different levels of control over local community moderators, right?

1·19 days agoI don’t know what “substitute thorns (th) to spite a member of the community who uses them” means here

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
2·19 days agoI am confused as to what you are getting at here. Piefed crossposts display post content from different communities separately within a link post that is crossposted.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
1·19 days agoCrossposting visibility is a pretty normal tool that should be on by default. It helps communities grow.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is there a formalized ban appeal process for the fediverse? Do I just direct message a mod?English
15·22 days agoEach instance will have its own policies and systems. I can’t speak for blahaj.zone.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
2·23 days agoThat might be possible. Rimu could add filters into community settings to hide crossposts.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
2·23 days agoThis would mean a fundamental change to how both Lemmy and Piefed work.

51·23 days agoI think you may be overestating the amount of crossposts that happen for the idea that it would somehow cause ‘monoculturalism’

3·24 days agoAlternative suggestion - allow communities to block crossposting functionality with specified communities in the community settings.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
51·24 days agoPiefed splits up the comment boxes based on community when a thread is crossposted, so you can still distinguish between the comment boxes on different communities despite them being visible.
That said, a potential future option here would be a community opt-out of crosspost functionality in this way

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
4·24 days agoThe different communities on Piefed are still separated within the post. You can still see which community you would be replying to

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The problem of cross-community postingEnglish
54·25 days agoPiefed groups comment boxes from crossposts into one post. So no matter which crosspost you’re looking at, you’ll see all responses.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What would community moderators want in an automod for the Fediverse?English
1·27 days ago‘Hey the word Trump isn’t allowed, but I can see you were using the word ‘trump card’ and not talking about Donald Trump so I’ll use my brain and allow it”
I can easily imagine automated systems that carved out the usage of “Trump card” as an expression as an exception to a block on a “Trump” rule.
“We don’t allow accounts with a low karma amount to post, because it could be indicative of a spam/bot account but I can see your comment isn’t either of those so I’ll use my brain and allow it.
This one is onerous demands to large traffic communities in the event they feel they need to filter out new accounts.
