2·11 days agoIn recent history it’s mostly the US.
Guess i can’t really argue wity that. What remains is the question whether the change was mainly driven by outside forces, or is mainly the result of internal pressure. We know who recently exported the most bigotry, but was it more influencial then the bigotry that was exported there earlier? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Obviously this whole chart is outside of the colonial era.
I agree 1993 was after the colonial era, but my point is that Nigeria wasn’t a blank slate that was never influenced by anything before they collected the data for this chart.

301·11 days agoNot to disagree, but a lot of other places spent billions on exporting bigotry to Africa. Unfair to give the US all the credit.

1·1 month agoWhy would a 17th century Ottoman cartographer choose not to draw Alhambra on one of those Granada hills. Was it lack of knowledge, lack of relevance or was there a political reason?

CasualEurope@piefed.social•How are the first days of autumn in your corner of Europe?English
7·2 months agoIn Dutch we both use ‘herfst’ and ‘najaar’ which translates to ‘after year’. Which is a bit weird because the first part of the najaar is also called the nazomer which translates to ‘after summer’. My guess would be that back in the day the year ended after the harvest (could be similar roots as herfst?) instead in the middle of winter.

I’ve read both are true. Tourism + digital nomand, because Portuguese weather is good and lisbon is relatively affordable, but i’m sure a local could give you a better answer.
