The prompts don’t say ‘loyalty not applied’, they just don’t have the discounts. You can totally back out of the ‘pay now’ in any self-checkout worth its salt. If you only have the number of items that is reasonable to have in a self-checkout, it doesn’t take ten minutes. Self-checkout has multiple kiosks to prevent one idiot from making the queue painfully long. There’s zero reason to hand a checker your phone.

It’s gonna be a busy weekend. If I do play something, it’ll probably be Hollow Knight while helping my spouse man a booth at a ren faire. I originally played it across many sessions with a lot of time between, and I missed some important things that now I have no idea where to look for them - so I’m starting over in preparation for beginning Silksong.

Been playing quite a bit of Mechwarrior Online as well… Despite its developer’s worst efforts, it’s still the best online mech combat game around.
